We built the house in the late 1970s, planning for energy efficiency and future solar power, e.g. with a 40-degree roof facing true South. In the 1980s, we installed a vacuum tube solar hot water system, which paid for itself several times over. But over a quarter century, the collector's reflectors degraded. Meanwhile, photovoltaic panel prices decreased, so in 2012, we considered 5 different installers and selected New England Clean Energy. We collaborated on system design and panel selection. The crew completed our installation in 2013 March. They should be praised for high competency, knowledge, skill, and for professionally performing excellent work while accommodating the weather and solutions to potential site-unique issues like Encore/X10 interference and daylight visible around the re-located vent stack. The system has been performing flawlessly, having produced over 7MWH in 7 months, with one negative electric bill! We highly recommend New England Clean Energy to anyone interested in solar energy.
