Ok. I rarely write reviews and this one is important since it's a big purchase. I had been shopping for solar panels close to two yrs. and noticed most companies offer similar product and prices. Here's what I learned based on my research and consultation with sales reps: Options: - Renting vs. buying - Micro-inverters vs. central inverter - Solar panel distributor (brand) - Individual solar panel production & efficiency - Warranty & pricing. First off, please purchase, don't rent. Almost all the companies I consulted with had similar pricing and warranty but differed on product (panels & inverters). It's important to note that the inverter(s) typical lifespan is 10-20yrs (much less than the panels). So I cared deeply about the actual product. Also, micro-inverters (one small inverter per panel) are much cheaper to replace in case they malfunction. Aaaaand, if 1, 2, or more micro-inverters stop working your the rest of the system will continue to operate as usual. Whereas if a central inverter stops working, the whole system will stop producing usable electricity for the house. Long story short, I decided to go with American Renewable Energy because they offer very efficient solar panels w/ micro-inverters at a competitive price. Their service was swift, installation was perfect, and to top it off you get access to one of the better iOS/Android apps for monitoring the panels. Great purchase and highly recommended!
