Review for North Texas Solar

Horrible Experience

I think solar is great and hopefully I’ll have decades of trouble free clean power. That said, my experience with North Texas Solar has been horrible. Two install dates were scheduled and canceled last minute due to lack of parts. Don’t schedule unless you have all the parts! When they did come, they had the wrong parts and said, “We'll be back later.” When finally replaced, they did not work (yet another install visit). How about testing equipment first? They damaged gutters and said they were already damaged (the gutters were 3 days old - brand new). After three weeks I arranged for the repair. They were smoking on the job site. They had to be reminded to wear masks (we provided). They left a junk pile on driveway that I carted off. They left rails sticking out beyond the roof line (neighborhood eyesore) and said we’ll be back to cut. Two weeks later they were mad that I called to have removed. They created a potentially fatal trip/fall issue by routing electric cables over attic access stairs (now relocated wiring). They installed electric boxes in a manner that did not meet code and then wanted to argue that it was fine because code didn’t make sense (boxes were relocated to meet code). Every issue I had they denied, deferred, and deflected. My advice – shop around.

Hello, In our business, customer satisfaction is everything, and we are still here for this customer if they have any further questions about their solar system. We are also pleased to note that the system we installed is producing above projections, ensuring decades of trouble-free, clean power as expected. Regarding unavailable parts, your installation took place at the height of the pandemic, a time when global supply chains were severely disrupted, including the shipping of critical solar components—even for American-made equipment. With ports backed up and materials delayed, this created challenges for solar installers across the industry. We want to reassure you and future customers that the situation has since returned to normal. In relation to testing equipment, it’s important to note that system components are delivered straight from the manufacturer, and we test all parts upon installation completion. If any parts are not operating properly, they are replaced immediately under warranty. As for the scratched gutters, we are grateful this was brought to our attention. We have since changed our policy to ensure gutters are protected on all installations. On the issue of smoking, smoking is prohibited on our job sites, and our policy is that we do not wear masks outdoors. About the junk pile, our supervisors and crew were instructed to use the trash pile already on the driveway from other ongoing home improvement projects, as there was a scheduled removal later that day. North Texas Solar policy is to ensure that all worksites are clean and that all trash is removed. With respect to code compliance, North Texas Solar is proud of its strong relationship with local building inspectors, and we strive to maintain their confidence. Our systems are granted permission to operate on an optimal timeline because of our experience and attention to detail. In this case, we moved the tucked-away cable to a route the customer preferred and relocated electrical boxes as requested. At North Texas Solar, we aim for the highest customer satisfaction. While we understand that miscommunication and unexpected events (including a pandemic!) can arise, we remain committed to meeting our customers’ needs and stand by our work and our warranties.
