There are so many things that went south with Ilum and I don’t want to take the time to detail every detail: however, their communication is absolutely awful. I was talked into Ilum by the sales manager, John, who convinced me that he will beat any price (not true because he was not the lowest price) and his company is the best. After reviewing many estimates, I went against my gut and chose Ilum. There were issues nearly immediately upon signing paperwork; From having someone show up to my house without an appointment and setting up a ladder against my house (the only reason I knew someone was here is because my dog barked), to Ilum nearly installing the panels without a permit (only because I asked about the permit, did the installers not do the work), to me having to call the city myself to find out the status of the permit and why it’s taking so long and requesting copies of everything from the city because I no longer trust Ilum, to it being three weeks after the installation that I have to email the project manager to find out what is going on because nobody has contacted me yet again, to not having any idea if my solar panels were running two weeks after the final inspection, to being clueless about how the app works-I am beyond frustrated and quite frankly, I am pissed off. I was told by the sales manager, Josh, he would be coming to my house to show me how the app works; however, instead of calling me to reschedule, I got an email that I didn’t see until seven hours later. Long story short, no contact from him as I write this review. I found out after the fact that I am the first client in Atascadero that this company has worked with and they didn’t know the process with the city. The installers were the best part of this company and the reason Ilum gets two stars rather than one. All four of them couldn’t believe what had gone on. They were all excellent, informative, and pleasant to work with. As I sit here writing this, I am quite pissed off and still don’t know how to use the app. I’m also concerned that the panels aren’t producing what they should be. Josh told me that one of the panels wasn’t working properly however there was no indication of that in the app…I thought the app would let me know.. Save yourself a headache, don’t use Ilum.
