Solar renewable energy credit

Avoid them at all costs! I had my solar system install a little over 2 yr ago. During the sales meeting with my rep, I was told that I would receive a $29,000 lump sum check due to the renewable energy credit. Once I received that check, I have the decision to roll that money over into the loan therefore keeping my monthly payment the same. If I chose to keep that $29,000 check, then my monthly payment would go up. After filing for this Renewable Energy credit (5695 form), found out that I would NOT be receiving this lump sum payment (as advised by their salesman) but a credit that would be spread over future years via my income tax burden. Therefore, I have no choice but to pay the higher monthly payment. If I was advised PROPERLY, I likely would have chosen to NOT install solar due to those higher payments being very close to my monthly electric bill per solar installation. BEWARE!
